The ME Flexible Home Loan (Fixed) gives both owner occupiers and investors plenty of choice when it comes to how they want to manage their mortgage. There’s a wide range of options when it comes to term lengths (from 1-5 years), and you can make free repayments of up to $30,000 over the length of the fixed term.
ME Bank’s Flexible Home Loan provides a whole lot of, well, flexibility. Whether you’re an owner occupier or investor, looking to pay principal and interest or just interest, or after a loan with an LVR below 80%, you’ll be able to find something that suits you.
Fixed rates are available for 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 year terms, so there’s no shortage of options available to borrowers. Rates start at 6.54% (8.43% comparison rate*) for a one-year term for owner occupiers, and 6.74% (9.04% comparison rate*) for investors.
You can also make repayments weekly, fortnightly or monthly, and if you want to pay off your loan faster you’ll be able to make up to $30,000 of free extra repayments over the fixed term.
The mortgage can also be split between a fixed and variable rate, letting you benefit from any rate cuts that might occur while having the certainty of fixed repayments. And although there’s no upfront application or ongoing fee, there are a few other fees you’ll have to worry about, namely the $250 settlement fee, $200 valuation fee, and the $350 discharge fee.
Additionally, applications on loan amounts of over $400k could receive between $2,000 and $3,000 cashback (depending on loan size).
With a range of options for both owner occupiers and investors, most people will be able to find a deal that suits them, but owner occupiers will get the best value if they’re taking out a principal and interest loan of below 80% LVR for terms of 1-3 years. This home loan is also a great choice for those looking for flexibility when it comes to making repayments.
You’ll have to be wary of the slightly higher revert rate which kicks in once the fixed term ends. Make sure you have a plan to refinance or haggle yourself a better deal.

Don't use this bank, they rip you off at every opportunity. I've been a loyal customer for 20 years and they will not help or show you any respect, plus the fees are outrageous.

All interaction with ME service officers have been helpful and good. Being an online bank, there is no branch we can go to if the need arises. The online servicing is mostly wonderful, however the lack of physical branches can be challenging if there are planned or unplanned system outages or issues with service.

Initial loan set up etc was great. But now 5 years into the loan it's quite different. Because they didn't take my payment out for loan for a number of weeks (their fault, not ours), my end on statement looked like it was fine. Anyway they took all my extra/advance payment out to cover as well as taking money out of savings, leaving us short. It was their fault (we had auto payments set up) this happened. But in the end we owed the money and had to catch up on payments. Which we did. But after me ringing over and over, asking for explanations on what happened. I finally got the info, but after taking many weeks. Even after filing a complaint they never did anything. But what got me more angry was that there was no communication with what happened. They took it on themselves to go into our accounts and take out the money owed. No contact at all. We should be more advanced on our home loan. Because of their mistake we are thousands behind. I also sent an email asking them to stop loan payments during Covid. No response. So the communication is terrible. If I get an opportunity to change banks I would just because of this.
