Comprehensive Basics Car Insurance |
With three Mozo Experts Choice Car Insurance Awards for 2023 across their car insurance range, NRMA offers safe and loyal drivers the chance to save big on its Comprehensive Plus Car Insurance with a generous multi-policy discount as well as a relationship discount, depending on the number of policies and the number of years you’ve remained with the insurance provider.
The NRMA Comprehensive Plus Car Insurance even goes the extra mile to make sure you’re covered. It insures any drivers who get behind the wheel of your car and will even replace your new car with a brand new set of wheels if it is stolen or written off within three years of the purchase date.
NRMA’s top level of car insurance goes above and beyond to give you the peace of mind that no matter what happens to your vehicle, you’ll be covered. NRMA Comprehensive Plus Car Insurance comes with excess-free glass cover so you can take care of any inconvenient chips in your windscreen or any cracks in your sunroof with minimal fuss and without having to pay anything out of your own pocket.
This policy also covers any modifications or aftermarket accessories that you may have added to your car at an agreed value and will even cover any tools of trade that may be damaged or stolen up to the value of $1,500. Just remember some inclusions and coverage levels may differ between the 'Plus' option, the standard NRMA Comprehensive Car Insurance and the 'Basics' policy, so be sure to check your PDS for details.
Comprehensive Plus Car Insurance might be a premium level of cover, but NRMA rewards its customers with some serious discounts to make the premium more affordable. Depending on how many policies you have with the NRMA and the amount of years you’ve been a customer for, you could be eligible for a relationship discount and multi-policy discount.
If you’re already an NRMA customer, it might be in your best interests to look at taking out NRMA Comprehensive Plus Car Insurance and reaping the financial rewards that come with the relationship discount. It is also worth noting this policy is only available in New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania and the ACT.
While NRMA has scrapped the usual unnamed driver excess that many car insurance companies include, you could still be stung with a pretty hefty unlisted young driver excess that could climb as high as $1,500 if someone under the age of 25 is in an at-fault accident in your car. Lastly, if you want to make monthly premium payments, you’ll be paying a higher premium than you would if you were to pay annually.

I reviewed my policy certificate before deciding whether to renew with NRMA again this year. I rang the professional and friendly call centre, and they were very helpful and suggested I do a quick reassessment of our situation. It seemed like some information was missing (eg driver history) and also our situation has changed as we drive less kilometres due to having bought a second car. This decreased our premium by $300 which I was very happy about. The upside of NRMA is that it's a very professional, trustworthy and we have loyalty discount here. The downside is that it is more expensive than the other smaller car insurance companies. But I feel paying a bit more for peace of mind is better.

I have been a Member of the NRMA for all of the years that I have been driving and I have been driving for since I was 16-17 years old, and I am now 75 years old. I have had no problems with the NRMA nor its Insurance. But I just do not know as to why my Car Insurance costs a lot more than my Brothers' who are also with NRMA Insurance. I live in Berkeley, a nearby southern suburb of Wollongong, and my Brothers live at Warilla (Lake Illawarra) within the Shellharbour area. I have been told that I live in a "City" area so my Car Insurance costs more. But Shellharbour has been declared a "City" as well. So my does my Car Insurance in Wollongong cost a lot more than it would in Shellharbour ???

They have been investigating one of my stolen car claim from last 6 months and its still not settled yet. They don't even provide updates. I made a huge mistake choosing them.

Better than many others. However, even after being a member for many many years and having a good history, the premiums still seem too high and go up instead of down and the member discounts etc are very very few and far between and there are always excuses from all insurers. They, like other insurers seem to offer better offers to brand new customers. I have made two claims in a long history for things that were not the fault of myself or any other driver of my vehicle. The second time was sort of okay but the first claim experience for a big claim where another vehicle wrote off my car and left me injured and out of pocket has still left a shadow on my feelings about insurers. I guess I would say to insurers but unfortunately I feel I could say this till I'm blue in the face like others and nothing would change is to look after your current members first and foremost.
