Kogan set to launch “value for money” insurance policies

Electronics e-tailer, Kogan.com has partnered up with The Hollard Insurance Company to launch a range of upcoming insurance policies for its bargain-hunting customers.

In a matter of months Kogan Insurance will be open for business, offering an array of policies for Aussies to choose from such as home, contents, landlord, car and travel insurance.

Kogan’s Executive Director, David Shafer said he’s excited about collaborating with The Hollard Insurance Company, which has one million policyholders and offers premium insurance protection without the premium price tag.

“We understand that buying insurance may not be exciting or glamourous - it's simply about ensuring that you’re covered when something unfortunate happens,” he said.

“We know that Aussies want a way to get premium insurance coverage on a budget, so they can sleep well at night knowing that they're protected without paying more than they must.”

One in every six Australians already subscribe to Kogan’s online offers according to the retailer, so its budget-friendly insurance products could be a smash hit among plenty of its loyal customers.

Shafer said that Kogan will continue to look for opportunities to deliver more value to customers in its existing portfolio of businesses, and in new businesses.

The news of Kogan’s “value for money” entrance into the insurance market may have come at a good time, with the Insurance Council of Australia warning the government this week that the rise of poor quality property developments may drive up the cost of home insurance premiums

Tips for comparing insurance policies:

  • Cheap isn’t always best. Insurance premiums aren’t worth skimping on, as being underinsured puts you in danger of winding up more out of pocket down the track. So when choosing an insurance policy go for a policy that fits within your budget while still offering adequate cover.
  • Watch out for exclusions. As well as comparing the key features of insurance policies, it’s always a good idea to read through all the exclusions too. Things like having a chronic health condition or poor driving record may affect your cover.
  • Don’t settle for less. With thousands of products available at the touch of a mouse, competition is thriving which means there’s bound to be a perfect insurance policy to suit your needs. Take your time to compare your options and find the best policy at Mozo.
