Whether you are looking to ramp up your credit card rewards points, receive cashback or take advantage of a 0% purchase or balance transfer rate offer, it can be tricky to navigate what seems like an ocean’s worth of credit card deals available right now.

For August, we’ve collected some stand-out credit card deals that are worth knowing about. From bonus points and cashback offers and intro and balance transfer rates, here’s what we found:

August bonus points offers

American Express Explorer Card
  • 150,000 bonus Membership Rewards points (terms and conditions apply)
  • $400 worth of travel credit and two airport lounge accesses each year
  • Up to 55 interest-free days on eligible purchases

If you’re all about bonus points, then the American Express Explorer Card might be worth looking into. Not only does this card enable you to earn up to 2 Membership Rewards points per $1 spent on eligible purchases, if you are a new American Express Card Member and apply by 26 October 2021, you could earn 150,000 bonus points. To be eligible for the bonus points offer new customers must apply online, are approved and spend $3,000 on eligible purchases in the first three months from approval (T&Cs apply). While there is a hefty 20.74% p.a. purchase rate to be aware of on this card, there is up to 55 interest-free days on eligible purchases. There is also a $395 annual fee to budget for but American Express Explorer Card cardholders receive $400 worth of travel credit each year (valid for flights, hotel, experiences or car hire) as well as access to the American Express Lounge in Sydney Airport twice a year.

NAB Qantas Rewards Premium Card
  • 65,000 bonus Qantas Points (terms and conditions apply)
  • Up to 44 interest-free days on eligible purchases
  • Complimentary Qantas Frequent Flyer Membership (worth $89.50)

NAB’s Qantas Rewards Premium card may be a good choice for someone looking to beef up their Qantas Points stash. For new customers that spend $2,500 on eligible purchases within the first 60 days from approval, there is a juicy 65,000 bonus Qantas Points offer (NAB may end the offer at any time - T&Cs apply). And for those that aren’t already Qantas Frequent Flyer members, this card comes with a complimentary membership - that’s a $89.50 saving! This card allows customers to earn up to 1 rewards point per $1.50 spent on eligible transactions and also comes with up to 44 interest-free days on eligible purchases. But be careful because in the case you are charged interest there is a 19.99% p.a. purchase rate. There is also a $250 annual fee on this card to keep in mind.

Kogan Money Black Card

Like to shop at Kogan.com? If so, and you’re looking for a new credit card deal, you may want to introduce yourself to the Kogan Money Black card. This credit card comes with the opportunity for new customers to earn up to $400 in Kogan.com credit when they apply by 31 August 2021. Kogan.com offers $50 on the first eligible purchase in the first 30 days from approval, then $350 credit for customers that spend $1,500 on eligible purchases in the first 90 days from approval (T&Cs apply). Plus, cardholders get a complimentary Kogan First Membership (worth $99 each year), which offers customers free shipping without a minimum purchase amount or an upgrade to express shipping for products that already have free shipping. This card also comes with a $0 annual fee, up to 55 interest-free days on eligible purchases and the ability to earn up to 2 Kogan rewards points per $1 spent on eligible transactions. Don’t forget though, there is a 20.99% p.a. purchase rate.

St. George Vertigo Cashback Offer
  • $300 cashback (terms and conditions apply)
  • $0 annual fee in the first year (low $55 after)
  • Up to 55 interest-free days on eligible purchases

St. George Vertigo Cashback Offer rewards customers by giving a little back for their spending. With this card new customers have the opportunity to receive $300 cashback when they apply by 30 November 2021 and spend $4,000 on eligible purchases within the first four months from approval (T&Cs apply). Plus, with this card St.George will waive the annual fee in the first year, which then reverts to a low $55 afterwards. Not only that, while this card comes with a 13.99% p.a. purchase rate, customers can receive up to 55 interest-free days on eligible purchases. Just remember, there is no rewards program attached to this card option.

August 0% intro rate offers

Bendigo Bank Low Rate Credit Card
  • 0% p.a. purchase rate for the first 12 months
  • Low 11.99% p.a. purchase rate after intro offer
  • Up to 55 interest-free days on eligible purchases

If paying 0% interest in your first year is what you look for in a credit card, take a look at the Bendigo Bank Low Rate Credit Card. When customers apply before 31 October 2021, this credit card offers a 0% p.a. purchase rate for the first 12 months from approval. Plus, once the offer is up the rate reverts to a low 11.99% p.a. purchase rate. Want more? Well, with this card there are also up to 55 interest-free days on eligible purchases and a low annual fee of $45. Keep in mind though this card is more of a “no-frills” option as there is no rewards program attached to it.

David Jones American Express Card
  • 0% p.a. purchase rate for the first 6 months
  • 50,000 Membership Rewards bonus points or 25,000 Qantas Points (terms and conditions apply)
  • Up to 44 interest-free days on eligible purchases

After both a 0% intro offer and a bonus points offer? Well, the David Jones American Express Card offers just that. Not only is there a 0% p.a. purchase rate for the first six months (reverts to 20.74% after) and up to 44 interest-free days on eligible purchases, there is also a rewards program attached to this card too! New customers have the opportunity to take home either 50,000 Membership Rewards bonus points or 25,000 Qantas Points. To be eligible, customers must apply by 28 September 2021, be approved and spend $1,500 at retailers excluding David Jones in the first three months from approval (T&Cs apply). Plus, cardholders are able to earn up to 3 Membership Rewards points or up to 1.5 Qantas Points per $1 spent on eligible purchases. Just don’t forget to budget for the $99 annual fee.

August balance transfer offers

Westpac Low Rate Credit Card
  • 0% p.a. balance transfer rate for 28 months (21.49% p.a. after) (1.00% balance transfer fee)
  • $0 annual fee in the first year
  • Low $59 annual fee after first year

Need to clear your credit card debt? The Westpac Low Rate Credit Card balance transfer offer could be worth considering. Customers that apply by 30 November 2021 can take advantage of the 0% p.a. balance transfer rate for 28 months (1.00% balance transfer fee). Westpac will also waive the annual fee in the first year which then reverts to $59. It’s worth noting, after the balance transfer offer is up the interest rate reverts to the cash advance rate which sits at a hefty 21.49% p.a. However if you continue to use the card after you have cleared your debt and the balance transfer offer is over, there are up to 55 interest-free days on eligible purchases. Don’t forget though, interest-free days don’t apply on any new purchases during the balance transfer period. There is no rewards program attached to this card.

HSBC Platinum Credit Card
  • 0% p.a. balance transfer offer for 36 months (21.99% p.a. after)
  • $29 in the first year ($129 after)
  • Rewards program option

HSBC’s Platinum Credit Card could be a great option for someone looking to bid farewell to their existing credit card debt. This card comes with a solid 0% p.a. balance transfer offer for 36 months (reverts to cash advance rate of 21.99% p.a. afterwards). The good news is, when you transfer your existing debt to this card there is no balance transfer fee. And on the topic of fees, HSBC will reduce the annual fee in the first year from $129 down to $29 - that’s a $100 saving! If you end up using this card for spending after the balance transfer period is up, there is a rewards program attached to this card where you can earn up to 1 point per $1 spent on eligible purchases. Plus, there are also up to 55 interest-free days on eligible purchases - just remember, these don’t apply to purchases made within the balance transfer period.
