Review published: 8 January 2018

What's hot:

  • Low 11.99% purchase rate

  • 55 interest free days

  • $45 annual fee

What's not:

  • $15 late payment fee

Mozo snapshot:

The Bendigo Bank Low Rate Mastercard is a bundle of good, bringing you all you could want in a low rate credit card. From its 11.99% purchase rate to the $5 annual fee, right through to its up to 55 interest free days this is a card that has your back.

Key features:

It’s common to find credit cards with a purchase rate of 19% or over, so the Bendigo Bank Low Rate Mastercard offers a great low rate at only 11.99%. Plus, the $45 annual fee won't break the bank either.

While some low rate interest cards can trip you up with their 0 day interest period, you'll get up to 55 interest free days with this card, which means you have almost 2 months to pay off your balance before you get stung with any extra costs. Bendigo bank also offers a fairly unique interest option, as the interest is charged from when you receive your statement, rather than when you initially make the purchase, saving you on your interest.

If you intend to share the credit card with someone else then you’re in luck, because you’ll incur no fee for having additional cardholders, allowing you and another to both use the same account.

And with a low 13.99% cash advance rate you won’t break the bank if you get get stuck running to the ATM outside your favourite cash only Thai place.

You will also be eligible for exclusive rewards through Mastercard Priceless Cities.

Who it's good for:

The Bendigo Bank Low Rate Mastercard is a great card for anyone who is in need of a credit card that is there to assist them with their daily purchases, either necessities or a bit of fun.

Any catches?

All around the Low Rate Mastercard has a lot of positives, but don’t get too relaxed about making payments, because you’ll be slapped with a $15 late payment fee if you miss the due date.

Personal service is the best, staff are efficient, willing and always smiling. Some of the products are competitive with other banks, depending on the promotions at the time. Always worth making an appointment with the branch manager if you are shopping around. You can personalize the picture on your credit/debit card - online. If you are lucky enough to have a Community Bank Branch in your town, the profits are put back into community projects. Only drawback is the competition with the big four banks on interest rates - but the overall package is excellent.

Smaller bank exceeding big expectations

I swapped banks and haven't looked back. Great customer service, competitive interest rate and I love how easy the online banking app is.
