Suncorp increases number of fee-free ATMs

Suncorp customers around Australia now have more than double the access to fee-free ATMs thanks to a partnership with Cuscal Limited, owners of the rediATM network.

The number of available fee-free ATMs has jumped from 1,600 to 3,300, granting customers more freedom in terms of choice and location.

“This is a great result for our customers who will benefit from increased ATM access, as well as functionality enhancements across the rediATM network,” Suncorp CEO Customer Platforms, Gary Dransfield said.

In 2016, The Banking Fees in Australia paper revealed that Australians are forking out $477 a year to maintain and keep their financial products active, like their credit cards, bank accounts and home loans.

Not only will Suncorp customers be given greater access across a number of locations, but they’ll also be able to save on their ATM fees. Out of network ATM fees can be as high as $2.50 per withdrawal.

While the partnership means greater access to fee-free ATMs for Suncorp customers, Mozo’s Money Experts remind all Australian bank account holders that there are a range of  ways to avoid paying ATM fees, these include:

  • Withdrawing money at the supermarket
  • Checking your balance for free on your smartphone rather than at the ATM
  • Choosing options to pay via EFTPOS or Tap n’ Go
