Transferring money overseas with ANZ bank

If there is a country you need to send money to, in all likelihood ANZ can help. Whether you’re sending money to a relative or purchasing property you’ll need to know the following:

  • Transfer maximum: If you’re using online banking you’ll only be able to transfer funds up to your pay anyone limit. You may need to increase this if you are making a large transfer.  
  • Speed of transfer: It generally takes 1-2 business days for the funds to hit your recipient's account from the time of transfer, though it can take longer for less frequently traded currencies.
  • Transfer Fees: The fee for your international money transfer will depending on whether you are doing your transfer on the phone, online or in person. Online is the cheapest at $18 or phone / in person will cost you $32. The cost does not depend on the currency.

Using ANZ for your personal international money transfers is all about convenience. You can use the same platform for multiple currencies and when you log on to your internet banking you’ll see what the live rates are on offer for the currency you wish to transfer. How to transfer money with ANZ

In order to transfer money internationally with ANZ you must be an ANZ customer. You can set up an account with ANZ online or at any one of their branches in Australia. You’ll need to provide the regular identification documentation to set up an account such as passport and drivers license. Once your account is set up and you register for internet banking you’ll be good to go.

To send a payment you’ll need the following information:

  • Full name, address and account number for the person you want to send the money to
  • Currency and amount that you want to send
  • Name, branch number and address or SWIFT BIC (Bank Identifier Code) of the receiver’s bank
  • IBAN (for payments to Europe and the UK)
