Apple has just announced the release of the new Macbook Pro and Mac Mini.

Just in time for the new work year, these new MacBook Pros and Mac Mini’s will be available from 3 February. You can pre order online now.

Here’s everything you need to know about the new models!

What’s the new MacBook Pro all about?

The MacBook Pro will be available in 14 and 16 inch models and will feature a new type of silicon, making them more power efficient and giving them a better battery life.

With the new Macbook Pros, you’ll be able to choose between the M2 Pro or the more powerful M2 Max chip.

What new technology is in the new MacBook Pros?

  • It’s up to 6x faster than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Pro
  • 2x faster colour grading
  • The longest battery life ever in a Mac (now up to 22 hours)
  • Supports Wi-Fi 6E,3 (which is twice as fast as the previous generation)
  • Advanced HDMI supports 8K displays for the first time
  • Liquid Retina XDR display
  • 1080p FaceTime HD camera
  • Six-speaker sound system
  • Studio-quality mics

All new MacBook Pros come with a USB-C to MagSafe 3 Cable (2m) and a 140W USB-C Power adapter.

The new Mac Mini comes in three different options. They all feature M2 Pro chips but you can choose between three levels of SSD storage and two different unified memory options.

What is the difference between M2 Pro and M2 Max processing systems?

M2 Pro

Features:

  • Up to 12-core CPU
    Up to 19-core GPU
    Up to 32GB unified memory
    200GB memory bandwidth

MacBook Pro with M2 Pro Chip

  • Rendering titles and animations in Motion is up to 20 per cent faster than the previous generation.
  • Compiling Xcode is up to 25 percent x faster than the previous generation.
  • Image processing in Adobe Photoshop is up to 40 percent faster than the previous generation.

M2 Max

Features:

  • 12-core CPU
  • Up to 38-core GPU
  • Up to 95GB unified memory
  • 400GB memory bandwidth

MacBook Pro with M2 Max Chip

  • Includes up to 400GBs of unified memory bandwidth which is twice that of M2 Pro
  • Delivers up to 30 percent greater graphic performance over M1 Max
  • Next gen 12 core CPU with up to eight high performance and four high efficiency cores that delivered up to 20 percent greater performance over M2 Max
  • More powerful media engine than M2 Pro
  • Twice the ProRes acceleration to dramatically speed up media playback and transcoding of M2 Pro.

What is Apple’s pricing on these new models?

14-inch MacBook Pro

For the 14-inch MacBook Pros, pricing starts at $3,199 for a M2 Pro Chip and it comes with 16BG unified memory and 512GB SSD Storage.

If you want to increase the amount of unified memory and storage, the next option costs $3,999 and this one also has an M2 Pro Chip as well as 16GB unified memory and 1TB SSD storage.

The most expensive 14-inch Macbook Pro costs $4,999 and has a M2 Max chip, 32GB unified memory and 1TB of SSD storage.

16-inch MacBook Pro

The 16-inch Macbook Pros start at $3,999. This model features an M2 Pro Chip, 16GB unified memory and 512GB SSD storage.

The next option costs $4,299 and has a M2 Pro Chip, 16GB of Unified Memory and 1TB SSD storage.

The most expensive 16-inch MacBook Pro costs $5,599 and this model has a M2 Max Chip, 32GB unified memory and 1TB SSD storage.

Mac Mini

The Mac Mini pricing options are $999, $799 and $1,999.
