Black Friday is one of the biggest sales events of the year. With sales on all kinds of items, from tech such as phones, tablets and TVs, as well as home and kitchen appliances, beauty and skincare and much more, Black Friday is the perfect opportunity to buy something you’ve been eyeing off for a while or get the Christmas shopping done ahead of the holiday season. 

Black Friday marks the beginning of Cyber Weekend, which goes for four days ending with Cyber Monday (27 November). While the sales event technically goes for four days, some retailers start holding sales early and some continue their sales into late November or even early December.

This may sound like there's a lot of time to shop, however because this is one of the busiest shopping periods of the year, things tend to sell out quickly.

Black Friday is a huge sale event that sees most of Australia’s major retailers offer some of the biggest discounts and deals of the year. Many of the sales take place online, so you’ll be able to pick up some great bargains from the comfort of your own home.

Black Friday officially begins on Friday, the 24th of November 2023, with sales traditionally starting as soon as the clock strikes midnight. However, some stores like to get in early and will start offering deals ahead of time – so keep an eye out!

Many Black Friday sale offers will continue beyond Friday up until Cyber Monday (which is on the 27th of November 2023). 

With many Aussies likely to take advantage of the major savings, the best deals are likely to sell out fast - so make sure to add these dates to your calendar now!

Why does Black Friday matter?

Black Friday not only provides an opportunity for customers to pick up some great deals, but it also helps give the economy a boost! During the sales, Aussies flock to stores (both in-person and online) to score some mega savings ahead of the Christmas period.

In short, there’s money to be saved on all sorts of items. Whether you’re shopping for some lavish homeware items or the latest technology, such as Apple products and gaming devices – there are sure to be some Black Friday deals available.

When it comes to getting the best deals, the early bird gets the worm. Black Friday kicks off as the clock hits midnight on Friday 24rd of November, but some retailers won’t offer their deals until 9am.

Some bigger players, like Amazon, might run various deals at specific times throughout the day - particularly for sale items that offer the biggest savings. These sales are usually very competitive, so you’ll need to get in quick to secure the goods.

Other retailers might opt to drop their deals earlier in the week or sometime over the weekend. Finding out when the deals you’re interested in go live is a good way to ensure you don’t miss out.
