Final Fantasy 16 will release later this year, and people anticipate it’ll change what we usually expect from the franchise.

The game’s visuals and theme have embraced Medieval Europe, so expect lots of swords and shields instead of its usual gritty technological landscape.

We’ve already learned quite a bit about the new game thanks to numerous trailers, notably its combat system blends FF15’s fast-paced action and FF7’s rotating party AI-controlled companion mechanics. Throw in the fabulous graphics on the PS5, and it’s a visual feast to behold.

Below is everything you need to know about Final Fantasy 16’s official Australian release.

Final Fantasy XVI is the sixteenth main instalment of the Final Fantasy series developed and published by Square Enix.

The game is set in Valisthea, a world divided between six nations competing to maintain power using magical Crystals and Dominants (humans who act as vessels for each nation’s Eikon–the most powerful beings in the lands).

Tension arises between nations when a Blight begins to consume and deplete the magic of lands, throwing Valisthe into war.

The game’s protagonist, Clive, witnesses his kingdom get destroyed and goes on a revenge quest to end the Dark Eikon Ifrit, who was behind it.
