Zelda fans! The time is drawing near for the release of Nintendo’s next instalment of the Legend of Zelda franchise.

After its successful launch of Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild for the Nintendo Switch, the open-world changed what we expect in video games.

Tears of the Kingdom is the official sequel to that beloved Zelda iteration. After its original teaser trailer in 2019, fans have been counting the days to play as Link, again. Let’s be real, this has been a long time coming - the excitement might cause Death Mountain to explode!

Plus with the newest gameplay released on Nintendo's Youtube channel. we've been given an official sneak peak on what to expect in May. Weapon fusion, teleporting through ceilings and building vehicles. The crafting mechanics in Tears of the Kingdom will truly change the entire game and we are here for it.

Below is everything you need to know about Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom's official Australian release.

What is Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Tears of the Kingdom is the direct sequel to Breath of the Wild. Link has freed the Divine Beasts from Calamity Ganon’s malice and rescued Zelda along with Hyrule…or so we thought.

In the teasers it seems that Calamity Ganon was just the beginning, and hidden deep inside Hyrule Castle is Ganon's mummified corpse. While the trailers only feed us crumbs, it's clear that Ganon has been released, Zelda might be missing (again), the Master Sword seems to be broken, and malice has taken Link’s arm in the process.

What does this all mean?

One thing is for sure, Link must save Hyrule and destroy Ganon for good.

Just as with Breath of the Wild, we expect an open world and open story game where we must complete quests, dungeons and puzzles. Or alternatively, maybe you can just skip all of that and run straight to saving Hyrule without any equipment or health, as in the previous game.

The possibilities are endless, and we are edging closer to the official release date.
