How To Renovate Your Home On A Budget

How To Renovate Your Home On A Budget

So you need to renovate your place? Chances are you’re on a budget, and it’s a strict one. Thankfully there are some cheap and easy ways you can upgrade your home, and it doesn’t take too much effort. Ally Feiam marketing and content creator for MyDeal.com.au, reveals the top ways to give your property a refresh without breaking the bank:

Introduce new colour for a new feel

Sometimes all you need to upgrade your home is a lick of paint. The latest trends are hard to follow, but there are some foolproof choices that will age gracefully, and not look dated at the drop of a hat. Choose muted and neutral shades to give a clean and “blank canvas” feel. Since the latest trend for interior design is still soft pinks, opt for shades that flatter this hue.

Statement wall

Light and soft greys, beige and blues are a great option for bedrooms and office spaces. Avoid dark and brash colours, as they give off the impression of a smaller room. There is an exception to this rule, however. You can always choose a dark shade as a statement wall, as it adds depth and personality to an otherwise clean slate room.

Go out with the old…

If your place is in good shape, but it could use a refresher, take a look at the handles on your doors and cupboards. If they’re old and dated, you can easily upgrade them and change the whole face of your space. You can also make small changes to your home by changing the doors on your cupboards or doors. You can hire someone to do it for you, but it’s cheaper if you grab tools and do it yourself. Plus, you can feel like a big shot knowing that you’ve done something a bit hands-on and you can brag to your mates about it.

Give your home a refresh

Did you know that you can change the entire face of your house by giving it a good scrub? Tidying your garden or cleaning the bricks and cement with a pressure washer makes your home look brand new. If it’s been a while since you’ve given your home a good scrub, you may realise you live in a red house, not a brown house. Your home will look brand new, and all you’ve done is squirt it with a powerful hose.

Invest in a furniture change

Sometimes the layout of your house is fine, but it’s the furniture that makes you squirm. Consider changing your furniture a bit, and see what a difference that makes! You can start off with one piece of furniture at a time, and soon enough you’ll notice that your place looks like new. If your home is looking a little dated, don’t choose furniture that’s necessarily on trend. These trends go out of fashion and tend to date quite fast, so if you want to make a lasting impression on your guests and yourself, choose furniture that is classic and elegant.

Simple interior design

Clean, muted furniture is always a good idea, but if your home is set to a theme, such as baroque or minimalism, you can always go with that theme. Jewel tones are slowly taking over pastels (although not fast enough), so if your home has a lot of deep purples and blue tones, you can always go for an emerald statement couch, or even a cerulean chaise. It’s up to you, but the furniture change is a great way to freshen up your home!

Remember, your home may need an update every once in a while, but there are cheap and easy ways you can upgrade it without it burning a hole in your wallet!
